Diva Red workshop

Morning all,

Hope you are all doing okay!  It is lovely and bright here this morning, I only hope it lasts.  We are planning a couple of days away and the weather forecast is dreadful - lots of rain and a bit of thunder!  Still, they don't always get it right do they?

These are three of the cards we did at the workshop on Saturday, the first two are mine and the third is Moira's.  I did do a fourth, (the other 'Moira' card!) but I can't scan it.  It was a lovely screen card.

We were delighted to have the lovely Eileen Godwin join us, she was having a break in Norfolk and came to our workshop while she was here.  It was a small and select group as we had a few last minute cancellations, but we had a great time.  Thanks to Veronica for the scrummy cakes!

Have a great Sunday xx

Diva Red workshop

Hello, I haven't blogged for a while, but I have been making cards, just not got round to blogging!  I will be blogging them soon, so 'watch this space'!

This card is the one I did for the Diva Red workshop last Thursday, very similar to one I've done before

The background is done by stamping the image lots of times with a multi colour inkpad, then spritzing with water, so the images all merge.  Use watercolour paper for this.

The lovely foxglove images are from Claritystamp

Diva Red workshop Saturday 4th May

Well, what a fabulous day it was here yesterday (Sunday), bit disappointed with today though, it is warm, but we were promised sunshine and haven't really had any.
Enough of the weather!  We had a great time at the Diva Red workshop on Saturday!  Everyone enjoyed it and all made lovely cards too!

This was the card I did for the morning, using Lily and Rosie, from Claritystamps they are pretty simple really, I found some lovely paper which I used to cover the front of the card, then stamped the character on another piece of the card and cut out the dress.
Stamp the character again, this time on white card and stick the paper dress over the image.
Mat and layer on coloured card
The strip across the middle is done with coredinations cardstock, which has a different colour core to it.

Emboss the card (I used cogs for Rosie and a floral pattern for Lily) then sand lightly, this takes the colour off the raised parts
Tear to size
I nearly always ink round edges, on this card, I inked round the paper on the base card and round the image.
Now for the bit where you have to be brave - take a fin pen and draw a squiggly line around the edge of the image and the edge of the base card.
Hope you like it x

For the afternoon card, I got out the Gelli plate, which people enjoyed much more than they thought they would!!  It is a bit messy though!

It is almost impossible to recreate anything you do with a Gelli plate, there are tips on how to use it in the Clarity website. (click on the above link)  I used a splodge away mask to create the background here.  I did a second piece with the same colours, just in different proportions and stamped and embossed the flower stamp (an old Anita's one) with white embossing powder, cut out add brads and mat and layer.

Have a look on Moira's blog to see the card she made with this idea - it is fab!

These are my versions of the cards Moira did for the workshop

Pan Pastel Tree

This is another card I did for the workshop on Saturday, using Pan Pastels with a lovely Dreamweaver stencil

I used Pan Pastels to do both the background and
the main image.
  • Tear a piece of white linen effect cardstock, so it is a bit bigger than the stencil
  • Place the Cypress Tree stencil in the centre of the card and emboss (I use a Grand Calibur)
  • Remove the stencil and using a pale colour Pan Pastel, colour the centre area, it is easier to do this now rather than later
  • Replace the stencil and sponge some Versa Mark ink through the gaps
  • Leave the stencil in place, then sponge a mixture of green, brown and red pan pastels through the gaps
  • Lift the stencil and shade round the edges with pan pastels
  • To create the 'ground' tear a piece of paper and place it so you can add shade under the bark of the tree
  • Remove the paper and fix with hairspray
  • Mat on to a torn piece of white linen cardstock, then onto green and finally the white base card
  • Add card candy
  • There you have it - a nice simple card!
  • Enjoy your weekend xx

Cards from Diva Red workshop on Saturday 6th April

So this is my first blog - how exciting!

Obviously I have to post a picture of a card!!  Inspired by a lovely lady, Eileen Godwin, these were done for the Diva Red workshop I run with my crafty friend Moira.  They are very easy to do,

  •  blend pan pastels over some lovely linen effect cardstock
  • fix with cheap hairspray.
  •  Stamp the Cherry Blossom Claritystamp with versamark  and emboss with black powder (remember to use something anti-static first)
  • Colour in the blossom with an opaque white pen
  • Attach butterflies with a brad.  The butterflies are dies from Spellbinders
  • Mat onto black card, then onto the white base card
  • Voila!
