A Nice Background

Good Morning!
I hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday weekend, in spite of the rain!
Have you heard that Leonie is joing the Clarity team?  Isn't that brilliant!  She is going to start a mixed media line which I am looking forward to very much.

I saw Leonie do a lovely background on TV the other day and had to give it a go, the two cards today both have the background.

To do the background, I used mixed media cardstock.
Spritz with water, so the card is wet
Brush watercolour paint in blocks all round the card, overlap the colours slightly but leave them mostly in blocks
Spritz with more water and blot to give a lovely faded effect.
I did two of these backgrounds to make two cards.
The fist one I cut the card square, the masked off the centre and stamped the poppy leaves all round the edge.
Add a tiny bit of black ink round the edge of the frame
Remove the mask and stamp the poppy in the centre
Colour everything in using pencils
Outline the square with a fine black pen and mat onto black, then a white base card.

For the second card, I die cut the Wild Privet from the new Fresh Cut Dies collection at Claritystamp, then cut it out using a square die from the Nested Squares set
I cut some of the leaves out of the centre of the design then attached it to the background.
I stamped the words from the new Mini Word Chain 17+18 using black archival ink
Mount onto a black card base.

Thank you for visiting today, I will try not to leave it too long until I blog again.
